Steven M. Magas, Associate
Steve Magas has been admitted to the practice of law in Ohio since 1982 and is also admitted to the federal district court and the United States Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. He graduated from the University of
Cincinnati in 1979 with degrees in mathematics and education. He graduated from The Ohio State University College of Law in 1982.

Steve started his legal career working for the Honorable Richard N. Koehler at the Twelfth Appellate District.
He spent a number of years as a trial lawyer with a small firm on the west side of Cincinnati. In 1989, he was appointed assistant special prosecutor by the Hamilton County Common Pleas Court to aid Special Prosecutor Thomas R. Smith in the investigation of allegations of misconduct in the county auditor's office. This complex and highly publicized criminal investigation produced 200-count indictments against the auditor and assistant auditor and led to widespread reform in the auditor's office following the conviction of the auditor on several counts. Steve then became local in-house trial counsel for CIGNA Insurance, handling the defense of hundreds of lawsuits filed against CIGNA's insureds. He later managed the Cincinnati office of Wolske & Blue, handling personal injury and medical malpractice claims and litigation, before opening his own practice in 2001.

Steve brings considerable trial experience to the firm, having tried several cases to verdict throughout southern Ohio. He was co-trial counsel during the litigation and appeal of Russo v. City of Cincinnati, 953 F.2d 1036 (6th Cir. 1992), a complex civil rights case in which a mental patient was killed by police after being hit with several Taser darts and some 22 bullets.

Steve has developed a niche in the world of bicycling and has, for more than 15 years, represented the cycle club locally, written articles on legal topics of interest to cyclists for publication in local, state and national periodicals, and represented more than 70 cyclists injured by cars, buses, trucks, dogs or faulty products throughout Ohio as well as in Florida, New Jersey, Virginia and Kentucky. His "bike law" practice has been featured in Lawyer's Weekly USA, Cincinnati Magazine, The Cincinnati Post and in the January 2004 premiere issue of Cincy Business. He has lectured to lawyers on topics including insurance law, trial tactics, handling personal injury cases and products liability cases.

In his free time, Steve enjoys playing his trumpet with local blues, jazz, funk, ska and classic rock bands and staying fit. He has two boys and is active with them in local school, Cub Scout, sports and summer swim team activities.
