Carol L. Risk, Associate
Carol is admitted to practice law in Ohio (2006) and Kentucky (2007).  She obtained her Juris Doctorate from Salmon P. Chase College of Law at Northern Kentucky University in 2006.  She earned her bachelors degree in Economics from Indiana University in 2003.

While in law school, Carol was awarded the Judge Judy West Scholarship, presented by the Women’s Lawyer Section of the Northern Kentucky Bar Associate.  In 2006, she was awarded the Bratton-Wirthlin Award for excellence in trial advocacy and received an award for distinguished achievement in advocacy from The International Academy of Trial Lawyers.  She was an active member of Phi Alpha Delta legal fraternity and participated in the Kentucky Innocence Project.  Carol also published an article in 2006 entitled, The Family Medical Leave Act: Standards of Proof and the Impact of Desert Palace on Retaliation Claims. 28 N.C. Prior to joining Smith Rolfes & Skavdahl, Carol was a criminal defense attorney for the Kentucky Department of Public Advocacy, where she represented indigent criminal defendants.
